SHEILA FOWLER NEWS

In July 2009 I will be going to Madagascar with the World Challenge organisation. The trip involves trekking and camping in more remote areas of the country. There are about 20 people in our team and we will meet local people and live a very basic lifestyle during our time in Madagascar. As part of the challenge we will be given a charity project to work on. We will be assigned to a local village and we will work to improve an aspect of life in their community.

This is my second project with World Challenge. In 2007, I went to Peru. The charity project on that trip was painting a school in a remote village called Cocachimba. Our team painted the classrooms and the exterior of the school building and also planted seeds in the local orchard. We also gave a cash donation to the local people.

Our team is currently preparing for the trip to Madagascar and we are raising funds for the charity project. I would like to use my art to help raise funds. I am having 1,000 cards printed and these will be sold to raise funds for the charity project. There will be three images used for the cards.These are shown to the right..

Sheila Fowler

I have always been a creative person, compelled to translate what I see onto paper or canvass. My style is contemporary and I have been influenced by the Impressionist Painters, Scottish Colourists and many others. I am passionate about art, and never tire of visiting galleries or reading about art.

I enjoy painting the scenery of Scotland and my inspiration comes from the beauty and colour that I see and my interpretation of what I would like to see. I also enjoy painting the scenery of places I have visited in Spain and Italy.
