ROSANNE BARR
Rosanne Barr was born in 1981 and grew up in the picturesque setting of Loch Lomondside. She entered Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, graduating with First Class Honours in 2003, and in the same year exhibited in the British Design Centre, at New Designers 2003. The following year at The Mall Galleries in London, she was one of two young Scots featured by The Society of Designer Craftsmen for 2004 and was awarded a Licentiate of Distinction. Since graduating she has been invited to exhibit in galleries across Scotland and in September 2007 was accepted into The Royal Glasgow Institute of The Fine Arts Annual Exhibition.
Traveling the remote northern coastlines of Scotland is a great source of inspiration, as has been her love of world travel: she has ventured across the vast, open plains and rock formations of the American mid-west, from the Great Lakes of the North to California in 2004. Then, in March 2007, on a world excursion, she experienced the evocative sights of Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and volcanic Hawaii. Since her return, continued success has enabled her to concentrate full-time as an artist. In October, her work was accepted for the annual exhibition of the Royal Glasgow Institute of The Fine Arts
Rosanne’s paintings are generically titled ‘Lands of Escape’. They capture as sense of escape which is serene, moving, and can evoke a personal memory of a landscape the viewer has experienced. Each painting presents a residual image of a place, creating a shadow…. a blur of memories.
